Special Olympics swimmers from Hungary took part in two demonstration races at the European Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary on August 12, 2010.
Eight female swimmers swam a 50 meter butterfly, while eight male swam a 50 meter freestyle. Nory Kruchten, President of the European Swimming Federation (LEN), Sven Egin Folvik, LEN Secretary General and Mariusz Damentko, Sports Director of Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia presented awards to all participating swimmers.

As three national swimmers won gold medals, the championships were heavily covered by the media, and Gyorgy Jady, Special Olympics Hungary Sports Director, was given the opportunity to provide background information to Hungarian National television viewers during the Special Olympics demonstration.

Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia would like to thank Laszlo Szakadati, LEN Director, the local Organising Committee and Special Olympics Hungary for their instrumental help in providing this new opportunity to promote the abilities of Special Olympics swimmers.
