CORPORATIONS AND CORPORATE FOUNDATIONS

eircom

eircom celebrates 26 years of support for Special Olympics Ireland. As well as funding and a volunteer programme, eircom also supports Special Olympics by providing valuable in kind services and products such as telephone systems, broadband capabilities and staff secondments as well as offering eircom head office work experience placements for athletes.

National Grid

National Grid has been the Official Partner of Special Olympics Great Britain since 2007 and this is developing into a beneficial relationship for both parties. 500 employees of the country’s largest utility company are ardent volunteers to the Special Olympics movement.

Accenture

Accenture, the global management, consulting, technology services and outsourcing company is a proud sponsor of the Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Programme in Ireland.

ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. The company is a proud sponsor of Special Olympics Germany.

The Vodafone Foundation

An investment of £500,000 in Unified Football has been made by the Vodafone Foundation between 2008-2010 to encourage the development and delivery of Unified Football projects to young people between 16 and 25 in Europe. 

SPORTING FEDERATIONS

FIBA Europe

Special Olympics European Basketball Week is the flagship event of the FIBA Europe-Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia (SOEE) partnership that was established in May 2004 with the aim of developing basketball for players with intellectual disabilities. Since then, the number of Special Olympics players in the region has increased from 13,000 to 53,000 players.

FIFA

FIFA’s support of Special Olympics is through its Football for Hope programme. In 2007 FIFA partnered with Special Olympics to launch the Global Football Initiative which aims to utilise the visibility and reach of the world's most popular sport and to raise the necessary funds to significantly expand Special Olympics football participation on every continent.

UEFA

UEFA (The Union of European Football Associations) has a long-standing partnership is being maintained with SOEE, which promotes football for players with learning difficulties. UEFA represents the national football associations of Europe, runs Europewide national and club competitions, and controls the prize money, regulations and media rights to those competitions.

Euroleague

Euroleague, one of the most competitive basketball leagues in Europe has committed to promote the Special Olympics movement during the 2009/2010 season. Under the slogan 'Basketball for Everyone', Euroleague will use the visibility of the league, players and teams to promote opportunities in basketball for people with intellectual disabilities.

The European Tenpin Bowling Federation

The European Tenpin Bowling Federation has made and agreement with Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia to host a demonstration event for Special Olympics athletes at the European Female Championships in Riga, Latvia on June 10-20, 2010 and possibly at the European Male Championships in Munich, Germany in June 2011.  The federation also agreed to provide discounted or free ticket price to SO athletes and families. 

NONPROFITS

Lions Clubs International

Since 2001, the Lions Clubs International Foundation's generous support has made it possible to expand Special Olympics' Opening Eyes initiative globally. The contribution not only maintains and improves all aspects of the initiative, but also helps provide volunteer support to the organization.

The European Union has recognised the important role sport plays in education, culture, social inclusion and public health within the European Society.
