Mission, Vision and Values

The mission of Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia (SOEE) is to play an active role in supporting the development of 58 National Special Olympics Programmes in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Sports training and competition bring enormous benefits to athletes lives.

Through its work, SOEE assists these National Programmes to become better known, better funded and more successful in both expanding and improving sports opportunities and other initiatives for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics National Programmes provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

SOEE Vision
Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia’s vision is to establish Special Olympics as a leading, well-recognised movement, financially strong and capable of using its influence to change attitudes and access resources for programmes that make a positive impact on the lives of people with intellectual disabilities in the region.

SOEE Values
In order to support the successful delivery of this strategic action plan, Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia has established a set of values that will underpin all of its activities.  No matter what the task, or who undertakes it, the aim is to be:

Accountable
We will conduct our work in a transparent manner, accepting responsibility and building trust through the integrity of our actions

Open
We will communicate and collaborate well through being responsive, culturally sensitive and easy to work with

Professional
We will deliver consistent, effective services based on commitment, strong knowledge and appropriate skills

Tenacious
We will not be afraid to strive for success, combining bravery and ambition with energy and perseverance to achieve our vision.
